Vector Production Associate
Scope of Position:
Following Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Manufacturing Procedures (MP) under the close supervision of a Production Manager, manufacture gene therapy clinical grade material utilizing requisite lab equipment/instruments, aseptic techniques and compliance to cGMP’s. Typically works with biohazardous materials. Responsible for laboratory maintenance, preparing solutions and media and ordering supplies.
Major Responsibilities:
• Performs and monitors critical manufacturing processes which may be specialized techniques such as tissue culture, transfection, and vector-containing supernatant collection following established procedures or protocols.
• Operates requisite laboratory equipment and instruments such as centrifuges, incubators, light microscope, balance, pH meter and water baths.
• Performs environmental monitoring of the clean room.
• Uses universal safety precautions to protect self and co-workers from biohazardous materials, including blood-borne pathogens.
• Complies with biohazard safety standards through proper handling of potentially hazardous chemical and biological agents in the workplace.
• Prepares solutions, reagents, and stains following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
• Uses sterile techniques to avoid contamination, utilizes laminar flow hood.
• Prepares, cleans, sterilizes, and maintains laboratory equipment, glassware, and instruments used in the manufacturing process.
• Monitors inventory levels, orders materials and supplies in accordance with established policies and procedures.
• Writes and reviews Standard Operating Procedures/Manufacturing Procedures.
• Complies with current Good Manufacturing Practices regulations.
Experience and Qualifications Requisite for Position:
• Experience in manufacturing biologics in an industrial setting is preferred with specific knowledge of tissue culture techniques. Knows the policies, procedures and practices necessary to conduct the normal function of the Manufacturing area.
Educational Requirements:
