Franck Lemiale, PhD
Dr. Lemiale is the Director of Research and Development, Immunobiology for VIRxSYS. He has been responsible for establishing an immunology department, monitoring immune parameters in patients treated with VIRxSYS’s lentiviral vectors, developing assays used to optimize new processes, and directing or assisting on projects requiring his immunology expertise. He received his Doctorate in Virology from Tours, France, after completing a Masters degree in Fundamental Virology at the Pasteur Institute, Paris, France. He has spent the past twelve years studying immune responses to HIV and optimizing viral-vectored vaccines able to induce protective immunity to this virus. He also has a PharmD in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Prior to his position at VIRxSYS, Dr. Lemiale worked in the Vaccine Research Center at the National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, as a research fellow. The group he currently directs is not only in charge of clinical monitoring at VIRxSYS but is also responsible for product development, from the optimization of new cell expansion strategies to the development of vaccines for HIV.
