Gerard J. McGarrity, PhD
Dr. McGarrity served as Executive Vice President of Scientific and Clinical Affairs at VIRxSYS. Although Dr. McGarrity is currently on a leave of absence, he still serves as a Senior Advisor for Scientific and Clinical Affairs to the Board of Directors and the management team. Dr. McGarrity joined the Company in 2006 and has 16 years experience with biotechnology companies and an additional 14 years of in-depth academic scientific experience. Prior to joining VIRxSYS, Dr. McGarrity was the CEO of Intronn, Inc. He also held senior executive positions with Genetic Therapy, Inc., a Novartis Company, and Cambridge Genetics Ltd., where he led several gene therapy products to clinical trials. Dr. McGarrity also served as CEO of the non-profit Coriell Institute for Medical Research in Camden, NJ. He has authored more than 160 scientific publications. He received his PhD from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia where he was also a member of the Board of Trustees and received the Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University's College of Graduate Studies.
