Serge Sira, PhD
Dr. Serge Sira is Intellectual Property Counsel for VIRxSYS Corporation. He is responsible for procurement and maintenance of VIRxSYS Corporation’s intellectual property portfolio, as well as handling VIRxSYS Corporation’s licensing and contractual negotiations, and commercial dealings including strategic alliances, mergers & acquisitions. Dr. Sira has a PhD in virology from the University of Toronto and a J.D. from the University of Maryland. He has over fourteen years experience working at high profile patent law firms in Washington, D.C. He has extensive experience in strategic planning and life cycle management of patent portfolios designed to protect emerging new platform technologies (e.g., functional genomics, proteomics, tissue engineering, gene therapy), biologics (e.g., antibodies, growth factors, and peptide-based drugs), as well as other small molecule pharmaceuticals and therapies (e.g., antivirals, anti-angiogenic therapies, and chemotherapeutics). Dr. Sira also has extensive experience in conducting complex IP due diligence analysis for multinational biotech/pharmaceutical and venture capital companies.
